This is our mission

The collections of the Museu de Alberto Sampaio are mainly composed of pieces of silverware, painting, sculpture, textiles and ceramics, most of them coming from chapels, churches and convents in the Guimarães orbit. So, the main mission of the Museu de Alberto Sampaio is not only to study and to disseminate those collections, but also to support and collaborate in the safeguarding, study and dissemination of those who are in the hands of individuals, of the Church or of other institutions.

In view of the above, the objectives of the Museum are: to acquire, preserve, study and disseminate any religious art that is part or will be part of its collections, but also to support actions that aim at studying and disseminating the movable heritage of the region the museum is included in.
