Discovering the Praça da Oliveira
In the Middle Ages, the Praça da Oliveira was the centre of religious, political, social and economic life in Guimarães. This explorer trail, filled with observation and discovery challenges, allows students to learn about some of the stories, of the buildings and of the curiosities of the most important square of the medieval Guimarães.

Discovering the Praça de Santiago
The Praça de Santiago is one of the oldest squares of Guimarães. It was here that the Franks, who accompanied Henry of Burgundy when he took possession of the Condado Portucalense (Portuguese County) in the 11th century, settled. This explorer trail, filled with observation and discovery challenges, allows students to learn about some of the stories and curiosities of this square, one of the most curious and typical of Guimarães.

Discovering the Historic Centre of GUIMARÃES
The Museu de Alberto Sampaio is situated in the heart of the Historic Centre of Guimarães, a World Heritage Site, and so, it is an excellent starting point to its discovery. The Learning Team of the Museum has prepared an explorer trail that allows students to know it in a fun and relaxed way.

From the upper town to the lower town
“From the Upper Town to the Lower Town” is an explorer trail that allows students to learn about some of the main milestones of the history of Guimarães in a fun way. The route starts in the Upper Town, where some of the monuments linked to the foundation of the nationality – Castle and Igreja de São Miguel of Guimarães – and the Palace of the Dukes of Braganza are located, and finishes in the Lower Town, where the main squares – Praça de Santiago and Praça da Oliveira – and also the Museu de Alberto Sampaio are situated.
