The Museu de Alberto Sampaio owns a library of average dimension, specialised in Art and Local History. It was created in the 1930s by the first director of the institution, Alfredo Guimarães.
Throughout the years, its bibliographic fund was enlarged with the acquisition of new publications. In 2005, the collection was enriched with the donation made to the Museum by the family of Alberto Sampaio (1841-1908) of the personal library of this distinguished man of culture.
This documental fund may be consulted in person at the Palacete of the Praça de Santiago by appointment. The catalogue of this collection is available at PORBASE, the Collective Catalogue of Portuguese Libraries hosted on www.bn.pt.
