MAS L 12
The earliest references to the Church of Brito date back to 1033 and 1080. The Inquirições (Visitations) of 1220 and 1258 expressly state «rex non est patronus» – the king is not the patron. Administratively, belonged to Guimarães. Saint John the Baptist was the patron saint of the Romanesque church, which also served as a vicarage for the local branch of the Order of Christ.
