Description: french shield, quartered: of Cardoso and Amaral; helmet with torse and crest of Amaral; with mantling.

Nossa Senhora da Conceição Chapel was built as a mausoleum between 1545-1547 by the Squires of Paço de Nespereira, Pedro Cardoso do Amaral and his wife Dona Isabel de Carvalho. A coat of arms was granted to the founder on August 8, 1538. Dr. Brás Cardoso do Amaral, the couple’s eldest son, was the first administrator of the manorial estate.
