Tombs of the owners and Squires of Casa Nova and Casa de Sezim. The first, Casa Nova, was founded in 1352 by Canon Gomes Lourenço. In the late 15th century, the manorial estate was inherited by Fernão Lourenço, 3rd Duke of Bragança (Dom Fernando) and chancellor for his son, the 4th Duke (Dom Jaime). After the latter’s death, king Dom João II banished Fernão Lourenço to Guimarães, where he died before 1520. The Freitas do Amaral family is descended from his daughter and heiress, Filipa de Freitas, who married Álvaro Rodrigues do Amaral.
