Sculpture of Saint Gonçalo of Amarante, with tonsure, represented with an abbot’s crosier and a book in the hand.
Saint Gonçalo was probably born in Tagilde, parish of Vizela, but he lived as a Dominican friar in Amarante. The construction of the Amarante bridge is attributed to him. He is considered, by the people, to be the patron saint of the marriage of “old women”.
