The Chapel of São Luís was built and entailed by Manuel de Valladares, who is buried here. Upon his death, the manorial estate and chapel were inherited by his cousin Sebastião de Valladares, in whose descendants’ possession they remained, under the name of Rebello de Valladares. These resided in a house bearing a coat of arms on the Rua Escura, today renamed Rua do Gravador Molarinho.
