Workshops

The museum has a set of workshops that may be used as a complement to the various types of visits or to the puppet or shadow theatres that are presented. These activities of artistic expression are a way to keep the memories of the visit to the museum more vivid!

Dom João I and Guimarães

After visiting the Aljubarrota Room, where we keep the presents Dom João I offered to Our Lady of the Olive Tree after the Battle of Aljubarrota and other pieces from the period of this monarch, students may, in a workshop, paint, on a canvas or a tile, a motif of their choice related to this king and to his connection to Guimarães.

Royal masks

After watching the puppet theatre “Afonso Henriques, a great king” or “How Dom João I took the town of Guimarães”, students may take part in a workshop where they may build a mask portraying these kings or their queens.

My favourite character

After watching any of the puppet theatres, the students may take part in a workshop where they may portray their favourite character on a canvas or a tile.

After watching any of the shadow theatres offered by the Learning Team, the students may learn how to build a shadow puppet.
