The Museu de Alberto Sampaio is a space full of mystery and knowledge and an incalculable source of information!

This museum is filled with treasures as the ones that can be found in the Aljubarrota Room. Here we keep the memories of an important moment in the History of Portugal: the Battle of Aljubarrota.  In this battle, King Dom João I defeated the Castilians and assured the independence of Portugal. Afonso Henriques was the first king of Portugal and, in Guimarães, the memories of his deeds are still very present. Do you want to learn more about the king known as the Conqueror? The Museu de Alberto Sampaio also presents an animated film on the life and deeds of the first king of Portugal, D. Afonso Henriques.

Pedro Lino wrote the script and directed this animated film, which is the result of a partnership between the Museu de Alberto Sampaio and the Municipality of Guimarães and which was developed as part of the Celebrations of the 900th Anniversary of the Birth of the first Portuguese monarch.
