Dom João I and Guimarães
The Aljubarrota Room is the ideal place to address the crisis of 1383/ 85. In this room, you can find the two pieces the king offered, as a sign of gratitude, to Our Lady of the Olive Tree, after the victory attained at the Battle of Aljubarrota: the gambeson and the silver gilt triptych. The gambeson is the military piece of wear Dom João I wore at the battle. The triptych is a magnificent silver gilt altar that represents a Nativity Scene. “D. João I e Guimarães” is a small book, with a set of games on this subject, that can be used to complement this tour.
